Early Kindergarten Enrollment
Assessment Requirements

Pursuant to Administrative Guideline 5112C, children of legal settlement who have not attained the age of 5 by August 1st will not be eligible for entrance into the kindergarten program.

Students with a birth date between August 1st and September 1st may be considered for an appeal.

A letter requesting consideration for an appeal must be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction no later than April 1st and should include the following information:

     A) Name of the child

     B) Birthdate

     C) Name and address of any preschool the student has attended

     D) Name, mailing address, phone number of parent and email address for parent.

Once appeal requests have been received, parents will be contacted to schedule an individual time for the student to participate in a mandatory, standardized kindergarten readiness assessment.  Early entrance into kindergarten is considered an advanced placement  with assessment criteria commensurate with being identified as high ability/gifted.  Parents will be notified via U.S. Mail and email regarding placement decisions.  There are no further appeals.
